FOUNDATION PROGRAMS

Certificate I Access to Vocational Pathways

This qualifications is suitable for individuals who require:

  • A pathway to employment and further vocational training reading, writing, oral communication, learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to 
  • Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 1 entry level digital technology and employability skills.
  • Foundation skills training package qualifications may not be listed as an entry requirement for vocational qualifications.

The following units include:

  • Use short and simple strategies for work-related learning 
  • Use beginning whole number skills and money up to 100 for work 
  • Use beginning skills related to time and 2D shapes for work 
  • Use whole numbers and halves for work 
  • Locate, compare and use highly familiar measurements for work 
  • Use familiar 2D shapes for work
  • Use simple and highly familiar spatial information for work 
  • Use simple data for work 
  • Use whole numbers and D simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work 
  • Use familiar and simple metric measurements for work

Certificate I skills for vocational Pathways

This qualifications is suitable for individuals who require:

  • A pathway to employment and further vocational training 
  • Reading, writing, oral communication, learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 2
  • Entry level digital technology and employability skills 
  • Education, training and employment goals.

The following units include:

  • Use simple strategies for work - related learning 
  • Use whole numbers and halves for work 
  • Use basic and familiar metric measurements for work
  • Use familiar 2D shapes for work 
  • Use simple and highly familiar spatial information for work
  • Use simple data for work 
  • Use whole numbers and simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  • Use familiar and simple metric measurements for work
  • Use common shapes for work
  • Use familiar and simple spatial information for work

Certificate II skills for work vocational pathways

This qualifications is suitable for individuals who require:

  • A pathway to employment or further vocational training 
  • Reading, writing, oral communication, learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to the 
  • Entry level digital literacy and employability skills 
  • Avocational training and employment plan

The following units include:

  • Use routine strategies for work - related learning 
  • Calculate with whole numbers and familiar fractions, decimals and percentages for work 
  • Estimate, measure and calculate with routine metric measurements for work 
  • Interpret, draw and construct routine 2D and 3D shapes for work
  • Familiar and routine maps and plans for work 
  • Collect data and construct routine tablets and graphs for work
  • Interpret routine tables, graphs and charts and use information and data for work 
  • Apply and expanding range of mathematical calculations for work
  • Use ratios, rates and proportions for complex workplace tasks
  • Estimate, measure and calculate measurements for work 
  • Use geometry to draw 2D shapes and construct 3D shapes for work
  • Use detailed maps to plan travel routes for work 
  • Read, interpret and use detailed plans, drawing and diagrams for work 
  • Collect, organize and interpret statistical data for work

English for jobs

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 

  • Communicate effectively in most daily practical and social situations, and in familiar routine work situations, at both concrete and abstract levels.
  • Participate in formal and informal conversations, involving problem solving and decision making 
  • Speak on familiar concrete topics at a descriptive level and detailed analysis or comparison 
  • Participate in conversation with confidence 
  • Demonstrate an increased ability to respond appropriately to the formality level of social interaction
  • Understand more complex indirect questions about personal experience, familiar topics and general knowledge 
  • Follow main ideas, key words and important details in an authentic two - or - three page text on a familiar but partially predictable topic.
  • Read English for information, to learn the language and to develop reading skills, but also to begin to read very simple adult fiction for pleasure.
  • Write coherent paragraphs on familiar concrete topics with clear main ideas and some supporting details, and with a developing sense of audience
  • Demonstrate mostly satisfactory control over complex structures, spelling and mechanics 
  • Use and understand and expanded inventory of concrete and common idiomatic language

Workplace English Language and Literacy

This course includes:

  • Use digital technology for basic workplace tasks
  • Produce simple work processed documents
  • Design and Produce workplace documents
  • Create and Use Spreadsheet 
  • Use simple strategies for work related learning 
  • Read and respond to basic workplace information
  • Read & Respond to workplace Signs & Symbols
  • Engage in basic spoken exchanges at work 
  • Identify measure and estimate familiar quantities for work 
  • Use whole numbers and money up to one thousand for work
  • Personal presentation, interview skills to determine confidence in speaking English
